The Groove's May 2008 Freebie Challenge

Welcome to The Groove's Monthly Freebie Challenge!

Hello from The Groove, Scrapbook MAX!'s *free* monthly newsletter.

Each month, a featured designer will offer a great freebie mini-kit and issue a challenge based on that kit.

All you need to do is download the freebie, create a layout that steps up to the challenge, upload it to your gallery, and post a link to your layout in a reply to this thread!

There's MORE! Everyone gets the freebie, and at the end of the month, three lucky, random participants will also receive an official Scrapbook MAX! mousepad. WOO-HOO!

Details about this month's freebie and challenge are below!

    The "Freebie" Part

Carena Scott has generously supplied a freebie mini-kit to all our Groove readers based on her full kit called “Alex” - “[A]versatile kit for both men and women. Scrap your family photos and outdoor photos. Warm neutral earthy colours to blend with any colour range with a little floral for the ladies and star bursts for the gents.”

    The “Challenge” Part!

Carena has issued this challenge based on her freebie mini-kit:

“Use the freebie kit and complete a layout using all items. Multi use of the same item is allowed and recommended. Remember your elements don’t have to be completely within the page, they can hang out over the edge. Use as many photographs as you wish but they must be black and white or monotone. Make your pages as interesting as you can and most of all - have lots of fun..”

Three lucky, random challenge participants will get an official Scrapbook MAX!mousepad.

Love the mini-kit and want more? Get the full Alex Kit today!

So get the freebies, accept the challenge, and get in on the fun (and the possibility of a free mousepad!)

And of course, be sure to check out the May 2008 issue of The Groove (we're celebrating April Fool's Day in May)! You'll find more freebies, tips, and even an awesome discount on featured kits in the Scrapbook MAX! Booster Pack Store! (Plus, you can win a mousepad if you identify the three "Fake for April Fool's Day" headlines - details in The Groove!)

    Happy Scrapping!

    Your Groove Editors,
    Karin and Marnie

Well it is nearly the end of the month already. This is the first time I have actually sat down and looked through this post from start to finish. I am astounded at the depth and variety of beautiful layouts that everyone has created with so few bits and pieces. This site certainly has a richness of soul and a wealth of artistic talent. Each and every one of you has produced a work of art. Well done.

Gosh it is so long since I last looked at this challenge and everyone has been very busy. What fabulous layouts everyone has produced. The amount of talent and imagination out there is staggering. It always fascinates me just how other people interpret a challenge like this and the creative way in which they all use so few items. It is definitely true what they say

    "Less is more".

Mine is really simple. But enjoyed doing it. Thanks for the challenge. It is not easy to get a picture of these two together. So this one is special. They are brother and sister.

Oh WOW I'm literally lost for words all these beautiful layouts are just phenomenal. I haven't been around for a few days due to having a bad case of bronchitis. I still have it and feel not that much better but better enough to finally get on here I love viewing everyone's work it's just breathtaking, you are all so talented and you literally blow my mind with such beauty that you all produce I want to compliment each and everyone of you personally but I would forget someone's name so have complimented you all as one. Sorry about that.

Grannywin - that is so cool. 92 years you say. Wow. My mum turns 76 this year and basically won't come near the computer and if she did - probably only to put the axe through it. LOL She hates it. LOL - Just as well we don't own an axe.

    Take care
    Hugs from Carena

I was giving my 92 year old aunt a tour of this site today, and showed her the kit that Carena gave us to create our layouts. She was so impressed with the Interesting designs created from just a few things. Well done everyone!

Yes - I to are loving the variety we are getting. Excellent. Sorry didn't get the chance to pop in yesterday as I've had a tummie bug that has introduced me to the toilet on a number of occasions yesterday. LOL I am however feeling much better today.

I've commented on everyones layouts in the gallery and if I've missed anyone out I apologize - not intentional. Excellent layouts from everyone. Awesome.
