  • Hello and 'help' from Texas!

Howdy ya'll --(okay, I really don't speak that way! LOL) I am just getting aquainted to the digital scrapbooking world and this site, by far has to be about the best I've stumbled upon and the information you all share is wonderful.

I have one little tiny question..... what kind of paper do you prefere to use to print out your sheets on? I mean, just regular 20lb paper is not at all attractive... so tell me what your preferences are? Please!

I could become addicted to this stuff!!!
    Thanks!

Hi Amy and a big welcome from another newbie.

I'm unsure about country to country paper availability but obviously, digital scraping confines us to those paper types that are designed for printing / your particular printer.

Although new here, I have a bit of exposure to printing and papers and the best answer I offer you is - FAKE IT! I use the best possible photo quality paper available - this ensures that the finished result is as professional LOOKING as possible, the primary images are sharp as sharp can be and colours are 'life real'.

If I want my finished product to LOOK as though it has been printed on antique parchment I design the page on a base background of antique parchment. If I want crumple/crink/flax/flat/matte etc. etc. this is all printed on the appropriate (supergloss/gloss/matte) photo printing paper to give the look of the paper I would have liked to use. This is one area where paper scrapping has the lead over digital - you are limited (in digital) to the paper types that are designed for printing but... you can get result so good these days that once framed and proudly displayed on the hall table or over the fireplace, NO-ONE will know the difference (unless they strip off the frame and have a feel).

Hope this is of some help and again, welcome to the SBM family.

      Kind regards'
      Terry.

Thanks so much for the information. You've basically said what I was thinking, but wasn't sure if I was thinking correctly! (KWIM? LOL )

I can't wait to get to know everyone, this is such a friendly place to be! I'm already spending way too much time admiring everyone's work!

          Amy,
I've come back to you here because I have just read something from one of our senior members (and she's v. good at all this) explaining that she does a 'blend' of traditional and digital - something that I would never have thought of - I'm not particularly 'crafty' - well actually I totally reek!!

          Regards,
          Terry
