  • credit clarifications...Please explain....

Hi guys, I noticed by looking at several of your works/scrapbook pages that you mentioned the designers of the templates you used. Do we have to credit that to them each time we use thier templates and embellishments? Please clarify this to me, because, I don't want to be fined or to be imprisoned for not mentioning their names on each of my scrapbooks. I just thought it's understood that everything I used was a product from scrapbookmax and that I only owned the pictures. Please let me know, I'm just a little worried of this.

    Racquel,
Don't worry, you won't be fined or go to jail.
Everything within SBM is free to use without crediting. You can if you want to as a courtesy!

Don't worry about crediting Scrapbook Max! templates, etc.! We've all been through this - forgetting who designed what and where we got it! As Marian wrote, it's nice to mention the designer from our site if you remember, but not necessary. It wouldn't be a bad idea to keep track of the designers of freebies or kits from other sites, though. I have so many that I collected before I even knew how to use them and I have no idea who designed them! The digiscrapping world is getting more sophisticated now, so I'm trying to name my new freebies, etc.!

The main thing that the designers ask is that you don't directly share their material - just direct them to the place you got it!!

      No jail involved!!!

Have fun and enjoy the addiction!!!

whatever comes with your c.d. is sbm. Whatever anyone gives needs credit and if you cannot remember just say so. Anything I make is free and you never need to remember that you got it from me as it is a gift. But others do want the credit. So have fun.

Thank you so much for all your help, the online support is really working great here. Awesome explainations and it's really clear. Now I can continue scrapbooking with ease. It's just that I also ordered some templates and embellishments separate from my software and can't remember the designers, I wasn't actually looking for the designers, I look right straight to the products when I bought them. I guess I just have to start checking who are the designers of the products I ordered so I can give them credit for some of my works. I remember Angelwithin, just ordered one of her products but didn't get to use it yet. Thanks you once again!!!

              I'm the Worlds Worst....

Your concerns are shared by all........ I really have a hard time remembering who gave or created what. You will quickly discover that this forum is filled with many talented and creative individuals. I have used multiple items from different people in some of my pages and I know I've goofed keeping track. I'm still around and the no one has gotten mad at me or asked me to leave.....LOL

The items in the challenge threads have been pouring in. I honestly have found the challenges so challenging that everyone has dove into the creating. Never fear everyone will love you!!! We also hope you will jump in on the fun at Scrapsville....... We have many creative minds there too!!!! LOL

I've credited on my LO when I use someone else's work just cos I think they deserve it. ... There is no legal reason why I do it. Not many require it, they just say that I cant give it to anyone else or would I please direct them to their website.

I try to credit anyone that I can remember. It does get very difficult. I have tons of files downloaded and have lots of folders which I name 'Downloadedfrom...........' with site name at the end. Then within each folder is usually another folder with the name of the designer.

This works for giving credit; however, it often takes longer to find things that I want to use.

Also try to rename items from here with the names of the very generous people.

However, probably no different from anyone else is that I have so much great digi-stuff, it can be a nightmare.

                  Good luck in organizing........

I have a main directory I call My Scrapbook and inside that I have many sub directories such as flowers, ribbons, word art, papers, kits and so on...when I download freebies, or buy something, like kits for instance..I make a new folder for each one and they go into the sub directory kits..usually each new kit will have a TOU file in it..when I start a new LO I try to start a notepad and as I use something I put in the credit for each thing I use..
that works great... If I remember to start the notepad when I first start, if I get too far along I forget where I got things...when I first started digiscrapbooking I didnt save like this so I have tons of stuff I have no idea where it came from....giving credit is a courtsey to the designer..the main thing is to NEVER take credit for anyone else's work by saying you made it..

Thank you all once again for all the kind words, wonderful explanaitions, and even some advices you all gave to me. I'm actually staring to have trouble organizing my pictures since last year. I didn't separate last year and this year's pictures yet, and instead I keep on adding back pictures from the previous year for my scrapbooks. What a mess I made recently. I should really take actions according to my hubby before any computer breakdown or viruses out there is going to destroy them.
P.S. I'm too busy to join, Scrapsville for now, my 2 kids just drive me more crazy the more I spend time in the computer. I keep the computer on most of the time and just run in there, any time I have, when they nap, watch TV or play. I gave them toys to play sometime, the next thing I saw was a big mess they make, like kleenex, toilet paper, baby wipes, tear books, or anything, they seems to always find something....thanks for the invitation though....!
Have a great weekend to all and see you all around....

I remember those days! Kids playing with my baking flower and using it as a sandbox! Or painting their cars with cooking oil.

You would think things would be easier now that the kids are older and out of the house... Nooooo, they have multiplied! Instead of 3 there are now 6! And these are so much harder to say "no" to, cause their all so darn cute! House is still a mess, but who cares! I keep telling myself, what will they remember when they are all grown up, "Oma's house sure was clean" or Oma's house sure was fun!"
