I am having problems with my programme.

I am sorry I haven't been around for such a long time, we have been going through a rough time with one thing and another.

I am having a major problem with my programme too, is it possible that Scrap Book Maxi could clash with the Paint Shop Pro programme? Sometimes when I have opened a picture to use in Scrapbook Maxi it has appeared in PSP and vice versa. A message pops up saying that it is an invalid file, I don't know how to explain it any better, I uninstalled my SBM for the time being, it has been too hot in England to use the computer much, recently.

Hi Mary, welcome back. Sorry you have had such a rough time, I hope things will settle down for you. As far as the program I have paintshop pro too, but I have not experienced any conflict. I am not the expert here, but I think though that if you are trying to use paintshop images, you may have to convert them into PNG's or jpg's first. Maybe someone else has more thoughts on the subject. Any way I am glad you are back to scrapping again.

Hi there.... No, the programs don't clash. Here is what might be happening... If the graphic has a .psp extension, then Windows will automatically open PaintShopPro, because that is the program associated with that extension. Also PaintShopPRo may be the default program to open certain types of images. Check to see what the extension is, and if PSP is your default image program. If the problem is not solved by saving the image as jpg or png, you need to go into the PSP's program preferences and change the files associated with it.

Thank you for your replies, they are much appreciated, my pictures are kept in jpeg format on my computer.
Some other graphics are kept as PaintShop Pro.......

I shall re-install SBM, and let you know how I get on.

Scrapbook MAX and PSP should coexist fine.

If you're saving files in PSP to use in Scrapbook MAX, the best format to use is usually either PNG or JPG.

Use PNG if the image has transparency or lots of solid colors.

Use JPEG if there's no transparency and the image is like a photo. (Although using JPEG will lose some detail, so if you're not concerned about keeping the file size small, just use PNG all the time.)

I am sorry to be so thick, but when you say transparency, do you mean the type of photograph which call slides.

No, I mean an image with a transparent background. In other words, with translucent areas that you can fully or partially see through.

IIRC in PSP that means it has multiple layers and the background layer is invisible.

For example, any non-square embellishment that is "cut out" like a sticker, is actually a PNG image with a transparent background.

...that's not the kind of transparency I mean.
