  • How do your restore projects after re-install??

I had to re-install all the programs on my computer. I saved my projects but they won't open correctly now.

I'm going to need some more details before trying to help.

Let's start with "they won't open correctly". Does this mean stuff is missing from your pages, not in the right places or are you getting some sort of error message?

Where did you "save" your projects? Does this mean you backed them up to a cd, another hard drive or just that you saved them from within the program before you had to re-install?

I'll try to help (as may others) but we need someplace to start.

Generally it seems when items are missing from a page, (you just get a gray box) it means the items were put in a different folder then when the original page was created. If this is the case, try and relocate the missing file and resave the page.

If this is not the problem, then maybe as suggested above, we need more info on what type of problem you are having.

Let us know how we can help.

I was about to post this same question. I had to do the same thing, because we had to blow away our C: drive and completely re-install all our programs. I had added alot of additional files to SB Max's gallery and wanted to be sure I didn't loose them. So, I saved a number of sub-directories another drive and just copies it on over afterwards.

But, my question, would be. Should we completely uninstall SB Max and then reinstall it? And which directory would I want to save to another directory to save my albums also?

You need to backup your "My Documents\Scrapbook MAX!" folder. All your albums and published files are saved in various sub-folders here UNLESS you told SBM to save a published file someplace else.

Also, be sure to update to the latest version (1.0.4.1) as there was a slight oops in the 1.0.4.0 update regarding the sub-folders in "My Documents\Scrapbook MAX!".

          Read here http://www.scrapbookmax.com/forums/s...ead.php?t=1416

I download and save additional templates/embellishments that are shared to a special folder I created called "SBM\downloads" and then import them from there. That way I can also backup this directory in case I need to reinstall. Then I can just go to this folder and re-import all my extras.

          I hope this helps.

Why thank you very much!!! That's what I thought. And I too, have set up a seperate directory for my SB Max albums and save them there. And I have tons of kits, elements, paper packs and such saved to DVD, so I guess I'm good to go!!! (Boy, I feel better...) So, I will back sure I have every thing backed-up/copied and then do the un-install/re-install. And again, thankx so much!!!!

Also, there are lots of external harddrives available for very little money. They plug right into your USB port. That is what I use for backing everything up from pictures to Scrapbook stuff.

That's very good advice if you have the extra rubles laying around. I'm pretty redundant when it comes to my backups as I learned my lesson long ago. I backup up to another drive on my small network AND to a large external hard drive AND to DVD regularly.

Oh yeah... we have one of those and use that for such things as our Quicken back-up and pics. But, I guess, just by habit, I've been doing it this way.... So used to grabbing my DVDs to find stuff and save too!
