Using pins and paper clips

This is a beginners question but can anyone tell me how to make paper clips and pins appear to be clipped on or through the page rather than sitting on top? I have tried cropping and adding bits of background over parts of the embellishment but as I only seem to be able to crop a rectangular shape this is not working very well, also with vellum and chiffon ribbons etc you get a different colour when you layer up that way. Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be an earser tool in Max, I have to take the Paper Clip element into another program, Like PSP,Photo Shop,DIP, any program that acepts a PNG file with an earser will work. Simply remove the part you don't want and save it into Max Element folder....Hope this helps. Max is very new,and I'm sure in time new features will be added.

I'm not sure where it is but I think Granny did the paper clip. A section of it was erased so it could appear to be clipped to a paper. I was a couple of months ago. I will see if I can find the thread!
