    Can I?????

Can I drag the SBM program and the files over to an external drive? And when I go to use the program or download from the forum, will it go to the external drive? I would like to put everything that is related to SBM and my downloads on the hard drive with nothing on the C drive...... Is that possible??? I am desperate here!!!!!!!!! nie

...first of all don't panic and run out and buy an extra drive! ..enlist the help of someone you know who knows thier way around a computer to help you clean out old useless files and remove any uneccesary programs. ...they should know enough to clean temporary internet files, know which programs you can remove and which not to touch!!

        Did that Wendy

I have a 3 yr old laptop with only a 20 hard drive. It is easy to fill up when your doing what we're doing with all the pics. I wanted to buy a new laptop but it's just not in my budget. That is why I was considering an external drive and to put everything (program and files) in the external drive. I'm just not sure how it would be accessed if the program and my documents with the projects, published files, templets, gallory with all my goodies are moved to the external.

I have already gone through the program files and deleted the trial version of PSP in order to free up some space. I really don't have anything else to delete. I just have a small hard drive. I don't know anyone who can look at it.

        Goodness, this is terrible.

          Onie,

If your laptop has USB ports (if it's 3 yrs old, I'm sure is does), then you can transfer you projects and content to an external drive or device. Another option would be to burn a CD or DVD of some of your content...

With the embellishments, backgrounds, etc, you can use the "browse" button in each dialog to select a folder in a different location other than the default.

I'm pretty sure it a good idea just to leave SBM installed where it is, just move you content...

Brett mentioned in another thread that there was a way to adjust something to tell SBM where to export your project, published files, etc.

          Hope that helps...

            A few things to consider:

            1) Do not move the SBMax program files to an external drive, actually don't move them manually at all. The only safe way to move the program files is to uninstall -> reinstall.

            2) You can use an external to store content and even move current content. But check and see if your laptop uses USB1.0 or USB2.0. 1.0 is super slow and would probably not work well for lots of content.

            3) There is a way to change where your projects are referenced from (rather than MyDocuments). Here is the text from the readme:

Added the ability to change the location that Scrapbook MAX! uses to load and save projects. By default, the "Scrapbook MAX!" directory inside of your My Documents folder is used. If you want to change this location, first create a text file called "user.ini" and place it in ...Program Files\Scrapbook MAX!\Data. Inside of this ini file, add the following 2 lines of text:

            [Folders]
            BaseFolder=MyNewFolderPath

where "MyNewFolderPath" is the new folder path you would like to use to save your files (eg. BaseFolder=D:\Scrapbook MAX!) If you still want to access all of your current files, go into your current documents folder and copy the 3 folders "Projects," "Published Files," and "Templates" into your newly created folder.

              Space Problem

I am in the same boat but I put all of my backgrounds, emblishments, alphas, kits, and so on..mostly freebie things from other places..and my pictures on a DVD..when I'm scrapbooking I pop it in and go to that drive to get the things I want to use..I also transfer my completed pages to a cd after I get a folder full..this gives you a lot of free space on your computer and also makes sure you don't loose all your treasures should you have a computer crash..I don't move SBM or any of its files..this works great for me and my computer runs much better...Have a Great Day Everyone!!

I purchased a SanDisk Cruzer Titanium USB FLASH DRIVE from Costco for around $80 and I saved all my pictures and downloads to it so they don't take up space on my computer. You might try that so you have all your things in one place.
