  • Help, please!

For some reason I can't publish a layout today. I've done it several times and it shows that it has published and I can see the layout in the published file. Then it disappears when I try to download it to the gallery. When I look in the published file in the correct album it isn't there!

Help, please, if you have any ideas what may be going on. This is definitely a new problem!

Thanks to anyone who has help for me!

    Still need help!

Trouble comes in batches. For some reason I can't publish my layouts to images. They appear but disappear into cyberspace! I've been struggling because I'm stubborn, but I have to give up!

    Does anyone have any ideas?!

Hi Maggie... I'm probably wrong, but it sounds like you're looking in two different directories. This may help you find what's wrong...

Go to Star, Search, and then where is asks for the name of the file, type the name including the .smt. If you don't know the exact name of the file, type *.smt. It will find all the smts in your computer.

Sometimes, because I have so many folders and directories, I actually look in the wrong place. Also, when you publish the file, write down the path to where the program is saving them to.

This could be happening because there are actually two directories to Max, the program directory under c:\Program Files\Scrapbook Max, and then there is My Documents\Scrapbook Max. Like I said, I may be wrong, but is worth the try.

Let me know if this worked, please.

            Thank you, Granny

I'm going to try what you suggested, Granny. I've never had this problem before and I've published so many times. Do you think my program has a glitch in it? Will try what you said. Thanks so much for responding.

              Granny

              Hi Granny,

I searched for the file and found it under "owner" instead of where things generally go. I can't figure out how to find it and get it back into My Documents, Scrapbook Max!. Do you ever just get discouraged? I've had trouble saving the layouts to a DVD, too. The learning curve just about has me done in!

I'm going to try to find that area in the computer!

              Thanks for your help.

Ok, are you familiar with windows explorer. You can use it to move the files around. Do the search again and write down the path that shows where the file is. Then open windows explorer, go to that directory, and move the file to the folder where you have the other smts.

Here is a link to a tutorial I did about how to move files from one place to another using Windows Explorer:

About a glitch in the program... Maybe, but sometimes is just windows doing that. What I do is re-start the computer, and most of the time, xp will fix itself. IF you found it under owner, maybe the settings on your administration setup has change, and it's not Max. Hard to tell without sitting in from of your putter.

Mostly, it's a Plot. Computers are just perverse creatures, kind of like men. You love and hate them at the same time. Well, not hate, just get aggravated with them. Frida Frijoles drives me crazy most of the time.

Let me know if I can confuse you anymore. Happy to muddy things up!

                  Tutorial

                  Granny,

I have that tutorial saved and I'm going to settle down and read it. I'm worried about the program though because twice when I clicked on the shortcut the computer completely went down and rebooted itself. I've never had anything strange like that happen. And then it saved to some strange location. Ugh. I love the program and the forum so much but I'm about ready to quit using SBM. I will try to wrestle this thing to the ground!

Thank you for trying to help. I do appreciate it so much.

                    Hi Maggie Mae!

Is it possible that you've changed the default publishing location to another location on your computer? Remember that when you choose to publish to images, you can click on the Browse button in the "Publish to Images" dialogue box and specify exactly where you want to publish to. The "output to folder" location is where your images will go and where you will need to retrieve them from when you want to upload to the gallery.

I know that you've published many times before (in fact, I've seen many of your beautiful pages!), but it still may be worth checking out or reviewing pages 101-102 in the SBM User's Guide on publishing images to share in the gallery. There may be a tip or trick in there that may be your solution.

                    Good luck!

                    Karin

                      A New Day

                      Hi Karin,

It's a new day! I settled down and found the published pages in a different area - I'll never know how they got there!! Some of the glitches have been trying to find my way around a new computer. My computer pal called me and said to change some of the settings and I've climbed the learning curve a bit more!

Thank you for your support and response and thanks to Granny, too. It's the greatest forum, isn't it?! Yesterday I even learned how to post a link! I' m a real newbie in forums!

                      Thanks again.

                      Sincerely,
                      Julie aka Maggie Mae

                        Hi there, Julie!

I'm so glad things are looking brighter today! New computers can take a bit of getting used to- I can sure relate - but I'm glad things are falling into place for you and you can get back to what matters...layouts, of course!

Have fun! And I agree, these forums are terrific!

                        Karin
