Mary.... This program will always show up on top of whatever program you're using. When you first open it, it will automatically be minimized to your bottom task bar, where the sound control and the clock are. Go there, click on it, and it will pop up. Then.....
Let's say you have a picture open in SBM, and you want to change the background color of your project to match a color on the picture. Open EclipsePalette. It will now be open over Max. You will notice on the top right corner, there is a small dropper. click on it, and your mouse cursor will change to the dropper. Now, put the dropper over the color on your image that you want to copy, and click on the color.
If you look at the Eclipse palette again, you will notice that the large color square to the left of the dropper is now the color from your picture, and below that, it gives you five shades of the color, in case you want to make something else is a complimentary color.
Ok, now, you will also notice that there are three color boxes below that, a red, green and blue boxes. Each of the boxes has a number in it. Those are the color values of the color you picked from the picture. Now, to change the background color of the page, click on the background icon in SBM, click on solid color, click on more color, click on custom. You will now have a pop up window with color squares, and some boxes with numbers in them. In the box that says red, you type in the number that is in the red box in the Eclipse Palette. Do the same with the green and the blue boxes. You will now have the color from your picture for your background color. Click ok.
If you want to change other things to the same color, like paper scraps, and embies, you can go to Effects, Advance, Sepia, and go through the same process again. The problem here is that it does not always work. You can also go to Effect, Advance, Adjust color, and move the sliders until you get as close as possible to the color you want. It's not as accurate, but it will work.
Well, that's about it. Hope I did not make it too complicated. Let me know if you need me to confuse you any further. Maybe someone else will have a better answer.
MANY MANY THANKS...... It worked BECAUSE you explained it so, so well. Didn't give me the option of changing the colour of a paper scrap as 'effects' was greyed out. Not to worry, now I can use the Eclipe Palette to great effect.
You are a star......
You're so welcome, Mary. Glad it helped. Did you select the paper before going to effects? Make sure you click on the object that you want to change, then the options are no longer grayed out. At least, I think so.
Keep talking to me, and maybe we can figure this out, unless another generous soul here in the forum (and we got 1000s) can help us out?

Once again, i'm off to bed ~ exhausted ~ as i've been playing with the Palette ALL day. It's wonderful & makes such a difference.
Will try out on 'scraps' tomorrow....
I tried bringing scraps in as photos, but they were 'tiny'. What am I doing wrong??
