  • Eclipse Palette 2

Can 'Granny' or anyone tell me the purpose of the icon under the magic wand in Eclipse Palette.

Have just mastered the 'wand' and it's wonderful and maybe I can now take it a step further.

If you haven't tried this package ~ I suggest you do. It makes such a difference to LOs.

Well, it's useful if you want to generate a random color.

I've done this on occasion just to come up with a random color scheme that might trigger an "ah ha! that would go good with picture X".

I'm a ColorPic man myself. I like ColorPic's ability to save different palettes so I can come back to them later.

Also, how are you able to post the 'link' the way you do. Quite a lot of others do it, but alas, i'm not that techno minded, YET............

When you are replying to a message, highlight the words you want underlined as the link. Now look up, just above the message reply window and you will see a button that look like Earth with a chain link under it. This is the Insert Link button. Click on it and type in the URL (web address) of the web page you are linking to and click the OK button.

I usually have the page I'm linking to open in another browser tab (Firefox User here) and then copy and paste the URL into the Insert Link window. My url typing usually sucks.

                  ColorPic

                  Dear PoppaBob,

I downloaded ColorPic, but I am having a hard time getting it to grab colors. Do you press Cntl-G before, during, or after you click with the mouse? Sometimes it grabs the color and other times it won't. Would you have time to explain how to use this wonderful tool?

Also, you mentioned saving color schemes. How do you save them for another time?

                  Thank you.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner Leaf, it's been one family matter after another around here lately.

The key is to make sure that the ColorPic window "has the focus" and one of the color chips is selected (outlined in black), then just move your mouse around until it is over the color you want and then press CTRL+G. The only thing I click on is the color chip. If you click somewhere else and another window has the focus then it's possible that the CTRL+G key combination is assigned to another function by that program and interfers with what you are trying to do.

For the color schemes, on the palette tab you should see 3 buttons that say "New", "Edit" and "Delete". As the names imply you would click the New button to create a blank palette with 16 color chips. A window will popup asking you to give it a name. The Edit button pops up the same window allowing you to change the current palette name. Be very careful of the Delete button as it will delete the current palette without asking you if you really want to or not. Once you hit that delete button, that palette is gone. Period.

Here's some more info at their web site.

                    Hope this helps.

                      Thank you PoppaBob

Thank you. That was a great help. I thought you had to click the mouse to grab the color. Oh well.

                      Thanks again.
