How do I make a template

Hi all, sorry if I sound like a dummy head, but have just started digital scrapbooking, have brought the software, (havent got the disc yet~live in Aust), but have been looking at all you smarty people out there doing these beautiful templates. HOW DO I DO MY OWN AND SUBMIT TO YOU??? Are you using the templates from Scrapbook Max! or starting from scratch, please shed some light on this little beginner.... Thnk you so much
