  • ORGANISING my 'BITS'.....

OK ~ now I really am getting in a mess. I have so many embellishments (which I’ve moved ‘all over the place’ into groups etc. that I keep forgetting I have them or where they are.

I store all my templates etc. on an external Secured Digital Card which I pop into my Card Reader and then drag into SBM.

If I purchase Photoshop Elements am I able to assign ‘key words’ to all of these embellishments while they are stored on the ‘card’???

Don’t want to make the pricey purchase and then not be able to do what I need!!

    AM I MAKING SENSE??**!!

I cant help you with this o ne Mary as I have never used an external whatchamecallit! Mine is all on the hard drive -- thousands of them .. I've got a 250GB capacity so it holds a lot of files.. but I'm sure someone will help you.. I just wanted to say how nice to hear from you again!

Have tried this but it doesn't seem to recognise or find my 'external' drive = Secure Digital Card within my Card Reader.#
        Any other suggestions pls.

I believe you can tell Google Picasa where to look.

I have a 200G external Hard Drive that I bought when i started digi scrapping. I store all my pictures and digital stuff on there so as to not bog dowm my computer.

I would be afraid of using a flash memory card because they can get corrupted and the risk of you losing stuff is greater, if I am understanding you right.

I have purchased the "Digital Scraproom" software and in theory it's great but it does require some discipline if you're going to keep it organized.

I have a bad habit of unzipping stuff and then not organizing it.

The cool thing about digital scraproom is that you can assign things to multiple categories but not duplicate the files and take up more space on the HD.

It has it's pros and cons but overall it's a nice alpplication.

I think they key for me is simply being organized when I first unzip things because I get overwhelmed and frustrated when I try to do it in big batches.

            This is for Julie

I went online to check out the Digital Scraproom. I don't exactly understand how it works.

I am probably wrong but I had the impression that you upload your embellishments, etc. In other words, should your hard drive crash, your goodies will be upline and not on your hard drive.

Please explain how storing your goodies is done!

I'm real good about puttin my goodies into my files but I like the idea of being able to search for what I'm looking for. Can you put embellishments in more than one catagory..... Example: Baby Alphabete embellishment. Can you put them in 2 catagories 1: Fonts and also in a 2: Baby Folder!

I have nearly 10g of embellishments now!

            I hope this makes sense.

                I'm gamed

If you do..... Consider to allow us to put embellishments into more than one catagory! Sometimes I have a hard time decideing which folder to put things in. Also, I have separated all my kits and have put my bits into different folders. I wished I had a catagory "KITS' that could have put into folders too!

Me too, I am going through the same thing. It is hard to find what I want, Plus my computer is slowing way down because I have so much. I was trying to decide the best way to store them, so I can get them off of my hard drive. In order to keep track of where I downloaded freebies from for credit purposes, I made different folders for each site. But that makes it hard if you are searching for certain elements or paper. I thought about going back and renaming each item with the site name, then sorting by paper, frame etc.. but that will take a long time. Any help you can give Steve would be welcomed.
