  • Creating Your own embellishments

I have been so amazed at the creativity since joining this site. It is addicting. I want to try my hand at creating my own embellishments but am struggling at what program to purchase. I would like to know what software you use & why. Which is more user friendly? Which has more options? etc...

Thanks in advance for any feedback... TLT

    hi

i personally use jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 (now owned by corel)

    - its can be a bit daunting at first as it has sooooo many sections to use but if you look around the net many people have tutorials up that are written in a nice plain simple way - unlike the help pages and manual which can be a bit too teccy!

I'm a big fan of Adobe Photoshop Elements. Organizer and Editor packaged together.

They all have a bit of a learning curve though, no matter which one it is.

I'm with Angelwithin! I too have Corel Paint Shop Pro 10 and originally had Adobe Photoshop Elements 4..Paint Shop offers MORE but is tricky to learn..I now have a hold my hand, walk me through it tutorial that is WONDERFUL. I got too frustrated trying to make my embellishments with Adobe because of the magic extractor difficulties and making things crisper, neater, etc. It will work but not as well as corel. GOT an outstanding deal for Paint Shop Pro 9 for my daughter to use...on ebay. For starters, download the free Gimp 2 if you have never done embellishments before. It is great for beginners..but your artistic layouts tell me you have experience..GORGEOUS work I've seen of yours. Have fun!! You got my vote for Corel !! I used to use Corel Draw 9. So I need have some prior experience..

There is a brilliant tutorial site www.lynda.com.
It isn't free but is so good. Has tutorials for loads of software. They have trials so you can try bfore you buy.
If I had the time I am sure I wold be able to get to grips using this. It shows you how to do it visually as well as with audio.
