Getting Very Disappointed

I really hate to complain but lately I've noticed, as soon as any talent begins to show up, their work becomes for purchase only in the "STORE". What gives? I've been around her for a long time and truly enjoyed the the atmosphere of the giving and sharing. I'm not talented and wished I could contribute but gosh, this is heart breaking. Don't get me wrong, I do wish everyone great success in the store, but I don't feel this is the exciting place it used to be.

I have noticed the same thing. As soon as someone starts giving us goodies, they get grabbed up. It has changed a lot around here since I joined. On one hand I see that it is competion for the Store. On the other hand when we joined, there was no store, and we were getting all kinds of freebies. We appreciate the freebies we are getting now from some very talented members. But how long before they are picked up too.

Yes I've purchased from the store too, but now I'm waiting to buy more than one thing at a time because I think it's cheaper, I may be wrong. Yes it is a shame, it's bcoming more commercialised. I wish I was clever and I would give. If I ever learn I will and there would be no chance of me getting snapped up by the store, I would never be that good.
Bobby Bear was 'employed' as a designer I'm sure but he has never put anything on.
I suppose it has to be accepted though, it was designed as a money making venture and the designers have to abide by whatever they are told.
There are still freebies around and thank you to everyone who shares them, numpties like me appreciate all we can get. It is way better value for money than paper scrapping and is reuseable.

I can only speak for myself, but there's only 13 store designers and 3500 members. So is the problem that those 13 designers are not posting freebies anymore?

I beg to differ! Julie Clark just posted her 4 x 6 brag book today. I'm doing another mega kit for the next challenge.

Just in the past day, there have been 20 embellishment posts and 4 template posts from other members. Not to mention all the external freebie links to other "commercial" sites. How much stuff do you need?

There are a lot of freebies and I am thrilled to get them. But for the very talented people out there, you deserve to be paid for your work, it is very time consuming to come up with such wonderful work that you do, and I enjoy using the work I've purchased. Because it's Digital it's reusable and that make it a real bargin. Can't wait to see more!! Thank You for your contributions!

sorry to hear your dissapointed, i wasnt snatched up i requested to be a designer and was luckily accepted, if i hadnt been i would have to spend a lot more time doing my 'other' work and less time doing what i love which is playing with graphics all day

i posted up a kit and a brag book template today and have posted something new at least once a week that is free and not in the store and i know the other designers post freebees up too

i for one would love to be able to afford to give everything away for free but unfortunetly i havent won the lottery yet and my home circumstaces mean i have to find work that i can do from home ...i wont bore you with the details surfice to say my husband needs full time care and our income is limited

giving and sharing is a wonderful part of this site and i for one will continue to give when i can but please understand some of us have to make a living somehow

I have made a concerted effort to give away freebies when I release a new kit and I gave away an entire kit and encouraged others to make coordinating embellies for this month's challenge.

Of all the scrapbook sites I frequent, this is BY FAR the "easiest" as far as getting freebies, people sharing, terms, etc.

I think the 'problem' has arisen because we have the best scrapping community on the www. Everyone is there for everyone and all help one another. The store is relatively new and we all were so pleased when it opened. It is an Aladdins cave and we all have choice as whether we buy or not. There are loads of freebies around and all over the www. I have bought from the store and from other places. The versatility of SM enables us to do this which adds to its attraction.
If the store had been open in the beginning we would have bought from there from day 1. That by the way is supporting SBM , not meant as a criticism, but it would have been a part of in the first place. I know how things can be misinterpreted when you cannot hear vocal and see facial expression. I for one was highly delighted when the store opened and have a list to buy once I have scanned my photos in (now my brother has returned my scanner!). I think all the designers have continued to give freebies, which we all appreciate, and the non designers too. I feel guilty because I'm a taker and not a giver but I will give if a miracle happens and I work out how to use Photoshop!
We also get awesome stuff from the Challenges.
I hope the designers efforts are resulting in reward, it is well deserved. There's not many products you can use more than once! *groan, hubby making wisecracks*
SBM is not quite a year old yet so it has established itself quickly. the designers were once customers that were 'discovered' by them or applied to be as a result of being one. I think I'm right there, I'm sure I'll be put right if not. These people have etablished themselves in the community and in the store.

I agree that if they are so talented, why not have that talent be at use. Isnt that what your supposed to do when finding the perfect job? As a SAHM id love to have the talent to sell some kits and make a little side money.

However, you darling wonderful ppl... if i had the "talent" id probably give many freebies to you!

I have to agree with you Steve. I have posted many freebies too. For the January challenge I spent 2 full days doing add ons for the challenege. It seems to me that people want freebies all the time. I have myself purchased from other websites including this one i the store. I donwloadload freebies, but I don't expect freebies all the time. Sharing is nice, but I too am disappointed at the fact it sounds like some members not all expect freebies all the time. Thats not right nor is it fair.

Not to worry! I think (psycho babble) that we have WAVES of freebies, coming and going with some tickling our fancy more than others sometimes and then our favorite givers get fortunate to get to the designer level. For the short time I've been here, I see ups and downs all the time. But we have a new crop coming in that WOW's me all the time!! This place is only going to get bigger and bigger and more givers of different talents. The designers still give TREMENDOUSLY...not only with the kits, templates and papers..but the more they put out in the store for us to browse if not buy...gives us even more fun ideas!! You are NO exception!! I am so amazed by your own talents!!
I'm thinking you are having a bad hair day!! Chin up girl!! We have the advantage to be in a GROWING environment!! You might want to help us figure out a catalog plan for all these incredible goodies that we have gotten and will continue to get!! My crystal ball tells me that this is a breeding ground for the best of both worlds, RETAIL (buying, selling) and giving ideas of all kinds to help us use our SBM to the very best ways possible!! Sharing our ideas helps the designers to produce for those that like the convenience of not having to do everything themselves!! We need to keep these wonderful designers close to us to thrive from their ideas and freebies!!
