Right click on the image and select "clear Image" It will remove the photo and it will leave the gray box.

I have designed a few layouts and want to take the photos I have inserted out but so it leaves the grey double click template behind. At the moment if I press delete the photo goes and no photo insert background is left. I hope this makes sense.
