what is a tube?

i did read about it somewhere but this only left me more puzzeled cause now i am wondering what is the difference between a tube and a png (with clear background)
cause the way i read it is deleate the back ground and there you have your tube
and

deleate the background and there you have your png

a tube is what psp (paint shop pro) users call a transparent background image

in psp they are saved as a psp tube but work the same as a png

A tube from a roll of toilet paper will do nicely, cause at the end of it, the background is transparent and you can look right through it. Makes a great telescope!!!!

They are almost similar, i know a Paint Shop Pro tubes can have several images - lets say for example, billiard balls - on one "tube". When I load the tube up in PSP, each click I make on my paper will put a random image from the tube at the point of my cursor. I'll link 2 pics for you, one of the actual tube, the 1st pic [this will not be in the tube format as I cant load them in here] and one of a picture I have made using the tube, the 2nd pic. Hope this helps.

Not all tubes have several images on them and in that case they would act in the same way.

ok i think i get it

looking at this through the toilet roll a tube can be a whole page ( with no background) with more than 1 picture on it that you can individually click and use............but in sense it is the same as png..........

there is a stand alone programme that you can convert a psp tube into png -- ive not tried it myself as i have psp

just remember most psp tube sites have a notice on site stating the tubes are for personal use only so you cant share the tube - read the terms of service as some state you can share the tube if you adapt it and some say if you credit them and some dont care what you do with them!
