Threading Ribbon

Can anyone please tell me how to thread a ribbon through a tag hole. When I press to bring forward or go behind the whole ribbon disappears when I would like it just to go through the hole.

The only way I do this is to bring the ribbon into SBM.... make a copy and then place either side of the tag etc.....

Hopefully someone will give us an easier way of doing this!!!!
