Resolution of photos

Also, it seems like the program is reducing the resolution of my photos when I insert them and they look grainy. Any fix for this? Thanks. The program looks like it has a lot of potential if I could get these few starter problems corrected.

Hi Cindy, I used to have that problems too but you can go into the settings where you change the paper size, in there you can change the resolution, but just want to warn you that when you want to submit a layout in the gallery the image should be set at 200 or as low as 100 cause as long as you dont print it out it will not matter, I hope I helped a bit, I am never any good with trying to explain things, But if ya need more help I am sure someone will come along soon! Thanks! I did change it to 300. I will work with it a bit more. The program is so slow though which I don't understand. Photoshop CS is fast on my computer and would think this would be the same. I do intend on getting my pages printed by a printing service I use so I do need them to be at 300dpi.

I have a suggestion for you while you are working on a layout do it in 100 resolution, when you are finished go back and change it to 300. it is slow because your resolution is high, that will probably take care of the slowness!!!

Cindy, you really don't need to set it to 300dpi. that is overkill, it creates huge files and that is probably what really reduces your speed and also makes you pictures look grainy. I have used this program for nearly a year with these settings, and I have been printing and having them printed in 12x12 at 200 dpi with great success. I have a feeling it will solve both your problems.

Thanks for your suggestions. I will go with the 200dpi as I trust your judgement since you have been at this longer than I Does anyone know of a good online place to get your pages printed that is reasonable for a 12x12? I just looked at the place where I used to get mine and they have went up in price....way up!

Hi Cindy, Scrapbook Max prints out Layouts and I here they are pretty reasonable. Man I think I should start getting paid around here!!!!!!LOL At the top of this site you see Order Prints click on that and it will give you the info you need! I print mine at home so I never tried it before but some people in here can give you a testimonal on how good and cheap it is compared to other print places! So good luck, And really 200dpi will be just fine!!! I would never steer ya wrong!

Thank you Carol. I will check them out. I am now trying to decide what size I want to go with considering the cost to print them. Do they even make 10x10 albums?

I actually never heard of a 10x10 but I guess in scrapbook world everything is possible! I know they do 8x8 and 8 1/2x11 and 12x12, but I dont know about the 10x10. See what they have to offer.

Well I just checked the prices on Scrapbook Max online printing and they are even higher than where I usually get my photographs printed. An 8x8 at SSM cost $3.49 and where I get them is only $2.25. A 12x12 cost me $3.75 though. Sigh...decisions Guess I will go with the company I am familiar with.

I forgot to add that where I get mine, shipping is free and takes less than a week to get them. Usually 2-4 days and they do a wonderful job.

I get the glossy card stock and for a 12x12 it is only $1.75 and the quality is pretty good. I don't know how it compares in quality to the printing service here, and I heard it is pretty good, but I just can't afford to spend $4.00 per page. It would really limit my layouts

wow, thanks. I will check this place out. $4 is a lot to pay and it is going to limit mine also, which I do not like That's one reason I was thinking about going smaller but I really do like the 12x12 size.
