You will either get a zip/rar file or the image itself on another page. When I get the image I right click and select "save image as" and choose where ever I'm holding backgrounds on my PC. Then when I want to use it I'll use the browse button within SBM. The background folder within SBM is in Gallery>images>backgrounds. FOr the zip/rar file I just extract into the folder where my back grounds are.
Do you know the format/file extension of the background?Sue xx

Save a background
Try this. Right click on a background that you like. Left click on Save Picture. In the dialog box, select a folder to save to. I created a folder in My Documents called DOWNLOAD FILE.
Usually, it will be a zipped file. There are several free unzip programs on the net to use or you can purchase programs like Winzip. I use FBZip which is free. Go to DOWNLOAD FILE folder and double click on the zip file to open it. This keys the zip program to start. After the folder is unzipped, the usable files will appear. You can leave them in that folder or move to another folder. I move them to ScrapbookMax scrap folder (C:/Programfiles/scrapbookmax/gallery/images/scraps). Another option is to create a folder for storage in My Pictures and use the browse button.
You don't have to unzip immediately. I usually save up the files and unzip and organize them when I have time.

background downloads
I am new to this site and am interested in knowing if anyone knows of some good sites that have free downloads so that I can download them and use them in sbm. I found one site but am so new to this stuff that I am really unsure of how to go about looking for other ones. Thanks.

There are loads of sites with freebies!
Just google in "digital scrapbooking" and up will come loads of sites. When you get to the site look for a section of "freebies." Also, we have the most wonderful kits and embellishments right here in the Sharing section of SBM! There are templates galore in the templates - and kits and embellishments by the hundreds in embellishments. They all install automatically into your program, also! In no time you'll have a computer full of stuff just like the rest of us!! LOLJulie

sharing section
Can you tell me how to get to the sharing section on this site, I would love to just have one site to deal with and so far I love this site. I am still waiting on my CD's which I am really excited about getting but I would love to check out the stuff on this site. Thanks again.

Embellishments
Courtney, you already mastered the basics of writing to a forum message. Now go down to the bottom of the home page and click on embellishments and the other selections. The kind scrappers in this forum are always generous with their goodies and will help you out if you need something specific.
Welcome aboard! You will love this program.

Courtney click on the button above that reads "community"
From there drop down about 2/3 down the page and it reads "Scrapbook Max sharing corner"
Within that section there are 2 sections called "templates" and "Embellishments" In these 2 sections is where members share their free stuff. You can spend hours in there as post go back to last year february.
There is also a section called "booster packs and add ons" that section will take you to the store when you can purchase additional items.
But I bet you will be busy for a long time in the sharing corner.
Have fun!
P.S you can also go to the challenge section where each month or so a challenge is posted. There are many freebies in there as well.

I see now what you are talking about, wow this is going to be fun. I will have to have this fun another day as I have to get up early and teach tomorrow but I am really looking forward to finding my way around on this site. I hope to get good and be able to post some for others to share as well. Question...can you view them before you save them or do u just save them then look at it later? Thanks for all the help.
