Help! My Saved Files are GONE!

Help, please! Last night when I went into SBM, I noticed I only had the 2 albums showing that I had completed that day--everything else was gone. (About 50 albums, hundreds of hours of work!) I am freaking out! I had not yet backed them up but I had published them to jpg's, which are no longer showing in the Scrapbook Max "Published Files" folder.

Everything is GONE! Please, someone tell me that they are here somewhere! I want to cry. . .

Do you know how to use the Find function on your machine to look for the files? Search on the name of the file you worked on last night. Let us know if u need more help... & let us know what u find.

this is really weird -
i had the same thing happen
when i go to scrapbook max and click on saved files nothing is there
i did find them under published files projects or something like that but how do i get them back in sbm - some of them are ongoing books that i need to keep adding to (greankids etc)

Hello,

1. Please make sure you're using the most current version (you can click Help > Check For Updates to update your software). The latest version is currently v1.0.6.1.
2. Saved projects are located in My Documents\Scrapbook MAX!\Projects. DO you see them there (ie. is smbax just not reading them), or do you not see them there (ie. they're deleted / moved)?
3. What was the last thing that you were doing before you noticed your projects were missing? (ie. did sbmax crash, did windows crash, did you isntall something new, windows updates, anything else you can think of).

For me, they are gone in both places.

I went ahead and downloaded the SBM patch just now so I would have the latest updates. The files are still gone.

I have not have a crash of any sort, the only thing I have recently done is to start using Picasa on the web, with my Blog being the source. All the photos that went onto Picasa were the jpeg's that were already on the blog (Blogger just started doing this automatically.) BUT, I do not think this could be related because I did not have all my albums on the blog. This is really the only thing that I have done in the last couple of days that I can think of.

If you nagivate to a project folder in My Documents, and double-click on the sbm file, does it open for you? (See attached)

For me, they are gone in both places.

Unfortunately, if you don't have the source files for your project (Located in My Documents), I don't know of any way to get them back.

yes they open there BUT if I just go to scrapbookmax and try and open a saved scrapbook they are not there

Hi Desmond--I am using V1.0.6.1.

I am very distressed about the loss of my scrapbooks. I know they are somewhere in the computer because when I start up or shut down my computer, I can see one which I used as a desktop flash up briefly.

I am fearful of this happening to my data again. I am also afraid that I have some sort of virus. Do we know why this happened? Could someone like a rent-a-geek get my files back? I am desperate. . .

I Found Them! They're Back!

I found them! I am so happy!

Out of desperation, I started searching the SBM boards and I found a thread about using Picasa 2 so I went and downloaded off the net (for free!) and I found everything! The WHOLE SBM file had gotten moved into another file called 'More Fonts' where I would have never, ever thought to look for them! I have no idea how that happened and I don't really care (but I am suspicious of my mischievous 2 year old because I can't imagine that I would have done that without even noticing.)

So now I am definitely going to back everything up to my external HD--I have learned my lesson--how quickly so much hard work can disappear with a few foolish keystrokes.

AND, as a bonus, it looks like the Picasa 2 program is going to be very helpful for categorizing and sorting not only photos, but also my tons of dig-scap supplies I have been downloading.

I think we've all had moments when we lost our files. I've done it several times. I too back up everything now to my external hard drive.
