  • A Few Questions for Desmond

Hey Desmond I have a few questions for ya! First of all a little explaining I must do... lets hope you understand me. A week ago while making a layout, I was in the shapes folder trying to change the shape of a picture when all of a sudden my computer shut off, I had no idea why this happened and didnt think it had anything to do with SBM, until today.... Same thing happened again, when I went into the shapes, computer turned it self off. Hmmm so I am thinking something is wrong with the shapes folder. Now I have made a shape folder for all the new shapes for the year 2007, cause I hate to keep saving the same shapes over and over agan. It has worked well all this time, not sure if it because there are tooo many shapes or what! Can you give me any ideas what I can do to resolve this problem? Thanks for any input you can give!

Carol, I had that happen to me once, but it was not in the shapes folder, I was in the embies folder using the little heart icon, which I rarely do. All of a sudden my computer shut down and restarted. I thought it was me. but I guess I am not the only one then. It hasn't happened since then, but it scared the S...t out of me. I just recently spent a lot of money to fix the darn thing!

Sometimes, while executing a string, a program will run into a bug, and since the computer, in my case Frida Frijoles, does not know how to proceed, it will shut down and re-start. My suggestion, besides making a huge bonfire and burning the heretic at the stake, is to make a new folder, move your files there, erase the old folder, then go back and rename the new folder to the old name. that should get rid of the hickups. If not, take two aspirins and call me in the morning.

              Hello,

Am I correct in assuming you're using Windows XP? If so, you can prevent your computer from automatically restarting.

Be careful when modifying system settings such as this, as if something goes wrong (i don't know what would, but "if"), I can't help you from here.

Regarding the actual cause, however ... I'm not sure what's going on. You could check your events log (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer | Application) for any red 'x' "Error" messages. If Scrapbook MAX! is referenced in any of them, i'd be interested to know.

Thanks for reporting this, keep me updated!

              Desmond.

I haven't had mine shut off, but I've had mine shut down SBM and If I haven't saved I lose what I've been working on. It has been happening to me since I've been playing with Wonder's masks. I thought perhaps it had something to do with all the clicking and changing the grey papers to other things. I'll have to see if it happens when I go into the shapes folders. Never paid much attention----I just save a whole lot more frequently than I did before.

Desmond, yes you are assuming right, ( But to warn ya, you should never ASSUME anything, cause most of the time it just makes an A** out of ya!)
Ok enough of my dry humor! You will be happy to know that there were no errors in SBM. But there are errors there, so now I have more questions for ya. If you could explain any of this I would greatly appreciate it.
In the Event Viewer under applications I have errors in there that say Application Hang and Application Error. Then there is quite a few that say ESENT, what are those? and is there something I could do to prevent this.
I then went into the security one and saw Success Audits and Failure Audits- what is that?? and lastly the System, which contained a bunch of things but there is alot of warnings and errors in there also. I also noticed they all have 512KB. I hope you can enlighten me a little. Thanks!!!!

I checked my event viewer Desmond and I do have some Red error messages that mention SBM. Didn't know that this viewer existed. Glad you pointed it out.

Crops, If you click on the error---it will tell you what program the error was for.

Ok, so it wasn't the hickups! Sometimes, programs get confused cause you want to do this and they want to do that. Desmond ain't telling you cause he doesn't want to admit that I know about computers. But I do. I argue with Frida Frijoles at least three times a day! I know all about her evil ways.

And I wan't talking about Max having a bug, I was talking about languages, like C, or VB, or Delphi, or maybe it was written in Swahili, how should I know.

So, give your computer some PeptoBysmal, and call me in 5 weeks.

Ah Granny---We knew what you were talking about. Seems you know about some of the new computer languages----the ones I learned were old as the hills like COBOL and RPG II. Guess that gives away my age!

Desmond, I looked at the log and there are no SBM errors. Luckily this only happened once to me and other then that, I have had no problems with SBM
