PACKERS for SHapes, PAPER SCraps, BACKGROUNDS for DUMMIES!!

.....OK..how longggggg..has this taken me to understand the install.ini ..I qualify for world records book I'm sure...Ok..a little dramatic but sure makes me feel stupid for taking so long to GET IT!!! (This is also posted in embellishments section for upload) WANT to make sure EVERYONE "GET's IT"..

This is nothing FANCY..but I've wrestled with this for months and just NEVER GOT it until NOW!! How do we DIRECT SHAPES to the SHAPES folder, BACKGROUNDS to strictly BACKGROUNDS folder, and PAPER SCRAPS..STRAIGHT to the PAPER SCRAPS sections..DAH..We have it in writing just at the front of the embellishment forum but I didn't understand it..NOW, I do..So this is from ONE DUMMIE to another DUMMIE..If you have figured out how to do this..Several have..then this is not for you..I'm GREEN with envy!!! and BLACK and BLUE from beating myself up over this!!
I've taken the liberty to make a simple SBM PAPER SCRAPS PACKER folder, a SBM BACKGROUNDS PACKER Folder and a SBM SHAPES PACKER Folder for you with install.ini text written out for you already. You can place these on your desktop or in your specified shapes section, backgrounds, and paper scraps for simplicity in finding them.
Tutorial given in two page jpg format for you to use where ever..Simply RIGHT CLICK each jpg image and SAVE IMAGE as directing it to pictures, wherever you wish..or click, enlarge and PRINT from here..
FOR THE ZIP folders.CLICK on them.SAVE and SEND THEM either to your DESKTOP or to your specific folders for unzipping..Don't confuse them..Send them were title lists it as packing for you..The install.ini files match the folder description..All you HAVE to do is DIRECT your items of SHAPES to the SBM SHAPE PACKER folder. ONce you have them all there..THEN OPEN the install.ini file inside folder and NAME the contents of the folder where designated..DO NOT CHANGE anything else but the end tabs for file name..You will be sooooo SORRY if you do!!! LOL.. SAVE CHANGES to install.ini and click on all the items IN the folder packer including INSTALL.ini file..NOT folder packer itself..and ZIP contents..THEN Click on zip folder and RENAME changing extention to .smb..VERY CRITICAL..Then it will change to smb folder...WOWO and double click to test it..That little zipped .smb is what you will send to us and when someone clicks on it..it will AUTOMATICALLY go to SHAPES, or BACKGROUNDS, or PAPER SCRAPS..Whichever packer you use..So excited!!! DAH!! Instructions are listed!!! so you don't forget!!!
Have FUN!!! For DUMMIES ONLY!!! Maybe Steve will take pity on us after seeing this and make some AWESOME PACKERS for us..AFTERALL...I use HIS Embellishment Packer RELIGIOUSLY!! IT ROCKS my BOAT with EASE!!! Hint, HINT!! and it gets OVER used for shapes and paperscraps, and backgrounds..forcing everyone to HUNT embellishments and MOVE the files to shapes, paper scraps, backgrounds..DAH!!!..I'm such a TRUE DUMMIE!!

These guys are so smart, they fail to realize...we don't have a clue as to how to make an install.ini file..Well..you name the notepad item..install.ini..DAH..Well...I need it this way..Walk me through, HOLD my hand, and TELL ME EVERYTHING!!

I saw Dummy and I thought I better read ASAP! LOL I have read this 2 times, and still havent a clue what you are talking about! LOL When I get shapes/embellishments/BG/paper.... I just put it on my desk top/ the only thing I move is the shapes to the shape folder. Sooo I am kinda confused here! Ok call me dummy!!! so I am not sure what this actually does! But its ok, I know where everything is and how to move it to where its suppose to go, so hopefully I wont need this! maybe?? I dunno!! Im heading to watering hole, I need a rootbeer! LOL

Sorry, Crops..Thought everyone would understand the PACKER part..

For folks STILL confused!!! This is a PACKER for putting items together for SHARING on this SITE or any other SITE that promotes SBM products. So when we give our items we typically use the fancy EMBELLISHMENT PACKER Steve made for use and we often use it to place our shapes, backgrounds, and paper scraps into as well with the added saying..Got to MOVE them from embellishments to your SHAPES folder..You CLICK on it and OPEN and it automatically drops the items into your program..but we've not created one for SHAPES, or BACKGROUNDS, or PAPER SCRAPS..just one for embellishments..WE were told how to make our own but the instructions were hard to understand for one totally unfamiliar with computers and how they work.. So now I thought..I'll make it a bit easier by making the folders up for you to make a special zip that opens and DROPS the SHAPES to your SHAPES folder..creating a new SHAPES folder for your SHAPES..You no longer have to go to embellishments to find them and MOVE them to shapes..
I think Marion has an easy way too of copying an install.ini file and sending her items doing it that way in a folder..But I thought..one for each placed in each section for easy effort..Either way works..So try it!!

Good questions to ask..Like me..DAH..Never understood install.ini part..now I do and I'm sharing the idea for you with a little more help!!

So these help you with the automation part. If you send SHAPES..you now can make them go to our SHAPES folder with simple OPEN...and it will go to SHAPES..same with Paper SCRAPS..same with Backgrounds..BUT.. I don't think you can MIX them..and you can ONLY do this with jpg and png formats. Won't work with gif or ttf..etc.. Hope this is a bit easier to understand!!

2 When I am done moving the items to the folders, I highlight all the items (including the .ini file) and send them to a zip.

3. I upload the zip files to the sharing corner.

4. Then I go back and delete them from the zip folder (leaving only the .ini file so you can re-use later).

I think this is what you mean. But not sure about the re-naming portion.

I'm SOOO IMPRESSED Sue..but you missed a CRITICAL step...

1) Place copied items for shipping out in one of the 3 packers..Let's do SHAPES for example.. Place the items in SHAPES PACKER folder

2) CLICK on the INSTALL.ini file in that PACKER FOLDER

3) CHANGE the end tabs to the NAME of this SPECIAL file you want to share..
*.png#GALLERY#\Images\Shapes\ *********
Let's call it d27 FLOWER BUNDLE SHAPES vol2
*.png#GALLERY#\Images\Shapes\d27 Flower Bundle SHAPES vol2
*.jpg#GALLERY#\Images\shapes\d27 Flower Bundle SHAPES vol2

THAT is ALL That you do for the ini file...The author, description, contact is all OPTIONAL and you can do a one time change to it and not have to change it again for SHAPES..

4) PRESS ENTER and SAVE your changes to the ini file..

5) NOW..lets shop..Hold down your CONTROL key and click on all the items you want to ship out INCLUDING the install.ini file and you can always add a thumbnail image of 100x100 of folder if desired calling it _sbmax.jpg . When you are happy with your selection IN the folder , NOW RIGHT CLICK and SENT TO - compressed zip...It will zing a zip and you will find it at the end of the row of shapes..

6) RIGHT CLICK on the ZIP folder (it will call itself the first name of the item in the group of shapes) RENAME that ZIP with YOUR special extension letters..(very important..otherwise possible overwrite of other files named the same in someone elses folders that downloads this) adding the .smb extension NO LONGER .zip...so I'd rename mine d27 Flower Bundle Shapes vol.2.smb
Press enter...It will now have a FACE tag on it..IT IS READY for UPLOAD.. Try testing by DOUBLE CLICKING it and it should then say..some many files successfully loaded..Check to see where it went in you SHAPES section..THEN PAT yourSELF on the BACK..YOU DID IT!!! THAT is the file you need for upload..THe other items will still be in the file folder..just delete the strays but ALWAYS leave the install.ini in the folder...You do not have to unzip anything.. The install.ini only makes copies to put in the zip ups.. GREAT JOB!!!

HOPEFULLY..THAT does it!! GOOD LUCK and my the guru forces be with you!!!

GOOD JOB GUYS..STill a little tricky but once you do it..It will all make sense and you will never suffer having to MOVE the SHAPES from embellishments to SHAPES folder again.. Same for Paperscraps and BACKGROUNDS!!

Thanks, that is the portion I wasn't sure about. I have done zips, so I knew you had to rename the zip, (although I wasn't adding the .smb) but it was the portion before that, that I wasn't sure about.

I will try it next time around, thanks again.
