  • Trouble with NSBR

    Desmond,

This relates to not being able to gain access to NSBR thread 'Days of our Scraps'

I can see what is happening on my status bar - 'Sending request to www.scrapbookmax... (followed by) 'Connecting to remote host at www.scrapbookmax... but then... my browser simply cycles through it's 5 'attention seeking' requests.

(It is as though the remote host is ignoring the request or is not recognising the request or doesn't recognise my computer?) Once finished its cycling for attention, a new page opens - remains blank with
'http://www.scrapbookmax.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2371 in the address bar. I have even tried a refresh at this point but.

If I immediately go and attempt to connect to another forum or, string within a forum - 'battaboom, battabing' - the page begins to load and within (.0839 ) seconds - done - I'm in.

I keep a lean system, cache and memory have both been dumped, system rebooted, registry cleaner run, nortons run (everything is sweet, neat and fast) but this one forum thread refuses to play happily. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it - can you cast any light at all on the situation please.

    With kindest regards,
    Dumbfounded. (Terry)

Be grateful Terry! Scrapville is a dangerous place - a lot of Looneys on the loose in there

At first I thought all this was a joke of some kind. I'm curious, what is Scrapsville? Is this a joke? lol

Hi Verleen, Terry's comment was legitimate... Not like mine LOL
Scrapsville is a make believe place right here on this forum..
If you go to the main index you will see a thread titled NSBR ( which means Not Scrap Book Related) there somewhere is a thread called Days of our Scraps or something like that.. where all the "Crazies" here make an ongoing Days of our lives type saga and all play out their "Roles" - Its just a fun section that has nothing to do with scrapping...check it out then " run for your life" before Dr Marion ( the Pshyciatrist doctor analyses you.) LOL

Hi Terry, I am not no computer expert, any by no means intend on being one, but I had a simliar situation a few weeks ago... I had to call my interner provider,IP and found out that it was there fault my computer wouldnt open onto a site. somethings about hubs or something, it was fixed with 24 hours. Now that might or might not be the problem, second, You have Norton, I have heard many bad things with Norton... peeps cant do things with it, maybe if you try and turn off your Norton and try to get in and it works you'll at least know what the problem is! These are my last two things I can think of! Hope you find out what is it soon!!! Scrapville is waiting! WE have the balloons and confetti waiting for your arrival!

DANGER - Scrapsville City Limits in sight!!

            C2D,
Thank you for the tip and yes, I have had issues with Nortons myself but I have resolved the problem - although that may only be in my own mind - I believe that it is a good a/v programme but I control it rather than the other way round by not leaving it to run in any auto format - I run it only for a disk or file scan when and if I have a suspicion.

As for my ISP, that had not - and never would have - crossed my mind - thanks for the heads up - I will follow through with that. Even if that is not it, it will remove it from the suspects list.

            Moonbeam,
Looney's? - Sounds as though I will be right at home. My biggest concern (besides getting in) is what the employment opportunities are. After finding somewhere to live (I hope there is a good real estate agent in town, I'm a little cautious about the B&B, I know the owner!) will be the employment agency.

            KR's Terry.

Moonbeam, I'm sorry but I will have to miss all the fun. I have to limit my time on the computer due to a neuro-muscular disease that worsens if I overuse the same muscles in my arms and hands. So, ya'll have fun. in Scrapsville. I need to use the time to do my pages. I use to do fun things on my African Violet forum, but no longer. We use to plan 'vacation trips'. One of the members, an ex Canadian air force pilot, would 'fly' us to where ever. We would have Mounties serving us margaritas by the pool......lol. And the story and wild party would develop. We also would build a story by using the registered names of African Violets. That could get real interesting.
