  • am I doing something wrong?

Hello, hope someone can help me. I've been using Scrapbookmax for a few weeks and its fantastic. Yesterday I started a new page in my scrapbook and clicked to add a pic. I selected my pic and my computer just bombed out. This happened 8 times. I resized the pic and tried everything I could but once I click to select it - computer shuts down. I tried selecting a different picture and it worked. Any ideas?
    Thanks

The picture file (JPG) is more than likely corrupted... That usually can cause a crash.

I agree with Steve -- if it's only one file that's causing the problem, the cause is most likely the file.

If you're willing, you could post the file here and i'll take a peak -- see if it crashes here as well. We're always looking for ways to 'nicely crash' when there's an external error.

            Thanks!

Sometimes you can save a "corrupt" image by resaving it with "save as" and different file name, so you can still use that picture. That has worked for me.

Steve, I havent yet figured out which ones that are doing it, cause it happened with several different ones in different folders, but for me its just the shapes. When and if I ever figure it out I promise to post it here!

thanks all for your suggestions, but i tried renaming the file no joy, and I can't see how it could be corrupt, I scanned it from my wedding album!

                      Hello,

Renaming the file doesn't actually adjust the contents. Try opening it in another program. If you can do that, File > Save AS, and save it as another file (and another file TYPE if possible). That forces the program to read the image into it, and then save a fresh copy. Any errors in the original file shouldn't translate into the new one.

An image can be corrupt and still be readable in some programs ... it all has to do with how those programs handle specific errors. We constantly update our software to take into account 'weird' errors, but it's impossible to get everything. There may be cases where you'll find files that won't open in other software, but will open in sbmax. Likewise, you may find pictures that open in other software that doesn't open in sbmax.

As I say, you could post the file here, and myself or one of the other users here could take a peak, see if we can replicate this issue ...

                      Desmond.

That is kind of what I meant with the "Save as" I guess I don't have all the techie language down. I always know what I mean, but that doesn't mean others do.
                        Thanks Desmond.
