  • Southwest/Native American

    I've been trying to get to know my brushes, patterns and filters a little better and came up with these. They should install into an embellishment folder called, "Native American."

    I hope you enjoy!

    Woo-hoo! I'm the first one to the five-feathers store! Loooooooove these! Thank you so much! You are doing an EXCELLENT job on everything! If this is just your "getting to know your brushes, patterns, and filters" phase, I can't wait to see what you do when you really learn it all! {{hugz}}

    P. S. Can you tell me how you do those yarn-strings, please? Or is that your company secret?

          Thanks so much! I appreciate your sweet, generous comments!

          knzus: (It's taken me 2 months to realize that your user name is KANSAS! And being your next door neighbor in western Missouri, I should have noticed it right away!)

          I made the strings in Photoshop. After making the tag, I added a new layer and drew the string with a soft bristle brush. Then I went to Filter > Texture > Texturizer and chose the canvas texture.

          I hope that helps!

            Cool, thanks! Gonna hafta see if I can get the same effect..uh, texture, look, whatever, haha! With all of us using different programs, sometimes if we know how someone got to a certain point, we can sometimes do close renditions. Thanks, gonna try this when I have time! I'm gonna master those durn string and yarns yet!

                        Thanks, autistic! These aren't representative of any particular tribe; I was just trying to use colors associated with the southwest. We are Choctaw (from Mississippi), Cherokee (from Oklahoma) and Irish (from Co. Donegal). Typical American mutt mixture! When I made and sold beadwork, I mostly did Sioux designs, because they sold the best. I think they were probably the most recognizable as "Indian" to the non-Indians who bought them.

                        I'm using Adobe Photoshop 7, and I LOVE IT!!! I don't have experience with other programs to compare it with, but I'm completely addicted to it.

                        I went to about.com and searched photoshop7 and found tons of free brushes, patterns and layer styles to download, too!!!
