  • Template: Dandelions ARE pretty

This is my first template....I hope you guys like it!

I designed this page using everything from the Scrapbook MAX image and embellishment galleries....with the exception of the dandelion mat, which I made from a close-up photo of the "bouquet" with the crackle filter. The font is Chopin Script, and the part about weed was a word art file. The yarns at the top were made to look "Messy" by taking the same yarn, copying it, then flipping it horizontal or vertical, and also rotating slightly.

I hope to post more soon....I've had so much fun using other's posted layouts, I feel the need to give back......but being mother of 4 young ones, it's hard to find the time.....

Let me know what you think!

          Dandelions

And I thought I was the only one who liked dandelions!!! I think they look soooo cheerful! Who cares that they are a weed (and who decided what was a flower and what was a weed anyway?)

thanks for sharing, you did a wonderful job!

I agree 100% Marion. The color of ripe, healthy dandelions is my favorite color actually. Right at the point where vibrant yellow begins to turn into hot orange. I also admire them for being so hearty. Great plant, a true survivor. Nature at it's finest. Some of the people I know who are into holistic living have used dandelions in tea, salads, even wine. Any plant that versatile is OK by me. I've never bought into the concept of "unfavorable plant life" at all anyhow, it's *all* good IMO.

I'm moving into a new home on Monday, and the new house has a south facing garden. So in the next week or two we're going to plant some beans, spinach, etc. It's going to be AWESOME, I haven't had my own garden for years. I expect my cat will enjoy the process of vegetable farming also. He has a superb work ethic.

Cooler even still is that, even though it's a house, the lawn care and snow removal is all included in the rent. So I get to enjoy having a garden without any weeding or lawn work. Yeehah!

HEY I just thought of something. I'm going to keep weekly photos of the garden for a scrapbook which starts with a photo of some seeds (next week) and ends with a photo of me eating salad (in September). WoohoO! I'm going to call it, "Lettuce go gardening", and have page titles like, "It's bean fun!", "Taking Stalk", "Give peas a chance", and "Corn you believe this?".

                  Dandelions

I LIKE IT! Good thinking Corey. I used to have a garden but the bunnies ate it all, no matter what I did. So I gave up, the bunnies won! (Not really, they had to go over to the neighbors for dinner)

Have any of you ever tried pressing dandelions??? I have a microwave flower press that I use for fun with my girls (from Crayola Big Yellow Box). You can press and dry almost any flower in 5 minutes or less - so much fun! The dandelions come out with a darker - somewhat interesting sunburst effect. My girls love them, they decorate cards to send to aunts and grandmas - I love them because they're free! I'm working on a few embellishments using pressed wildflowers that have just come into bloom here in Michigan....again - it takes me a while - I have 4 kids ages 9 yrs. to 20 months!

Dandellions are not weeds!!!! Is it an accident that a little child can pick this awesome little plant, blow it with their gentle little breaths, and the white fuzzy wassies fly everywhere, making every one happy (except the grouch next door with his prizzy manicured lawn)? I ask you, is not a purposeful design behind this? Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!! There you go!

Corey, what a wonderful idea! You're awesome. Here is a couple of more titles you can use with a wedding template... "My twenty carrot engagement ring"; "Lettuce along, with no dressing".

The rest of you... (Can you tell me at which Trader Joe's they found Corey, in the nuts department, I'm sure? Are there anymore bags like him?).

I'm thinking of starting a foundation where we raise funds to hire out-of-work comedians to drive around the country and get grouchy people with manicured lawns to smile. The theory being that once they've tried it, they'll like it.
