Father's Day is coming fast. Here's a template for Dad & son.

To use this template, click on the link in the "Attached Files" section below (the .smt files). When your Web browser asks you what you want to do with the file, click the "Open" button (Internet Explorer or Opera browsers) or choose "Open with: Scrapbook MAX!" and click OK (Firefox browser). Once the file has downloaded, you should see a message that tells you that the template has been successfully installed. It will now be available the next time that you create a new project or page.

I wasn't sure which program you use, but I googled "digital scrapbook tutorials" & got a huge list. I looked at the list at digitalscrapbookplace.com and there was one for drawing fibers. I was curious on how you created the strings attached to the tags... Did you draw those?

Nope, I used ones from the SBM gallery. I've been too cheap to buy a photo editing program, so I came up with my own way to make the strings look like they go behind things. For example, the spiral ring in the Father's Day LO I put the original ring on the page where I wanted it, then made a copy of it. I cropped the copy to fit over the section of the ring where the string was, put that small section on top of the string so it looks like the string goes behind the ring. It takes awhile to get the cropped part just the right size & in just the right place, but the end result is worth it to me. I am a die-hard paper scrapbooker, so I want my digital LO to look as much like a paper LO as I can get it. I'm sure it would be easier to buy a program to edit the photos, but this is how I do it for now.

Well, I'm always trying to expand my graphic design horizons, so my next task will be to learn how to create realistic looking fiber items, such as braided strings, rope, etc to use as embellishments and also include them in some future kit releases.

Have you ever done any buckles with that middle part partially erased? Right now I do the copy & crop thing (like I do with my tags) when I use buckles because I don't have a program to do my own erasing. I'd appreciate something like that. Also, do you have any recommendations on software? What program do you use to design your embellishments? I've been thinking about buying a program & trying my hand at designing, but I'm not sure where to start.

I personally use Photoshop... I've been using that for years and pretty much is the flagship product. A lot of people seem to be using Paint Shop Pro as well.

There are lots of tutorials for both products out there, just have to find them.
